Product Description

Say goodbye to range anxiety! This 4G LTE global cellular modem provides mobile network connectivity for the BlueBoat, enabling long-range communication beyond the reach of the BaseStation.

With cellular coverage, the BlueBoat can operate in remote areas while you control and monitor it from hundreds of miles away. Just like your cell phone, the modem connects to mobile networks using 4G LTE, so the BlueBoat can stay online anywhere with cellular coverage.

The cellular connection is best suited for low-bandwidth tasks like viewing telemetry, monitoring and updating missions, or issuing commands. It’s not ideal for high-bandwidth devices or payloads due to potential high data costs and lower connection speed.

Beyond the BaseStation

The compact modem is installed inside the BlueBoat’s port hatch lid. It connects via USB-C and includes an external omnidirectional antenna covering 600 MHz to 2700 MHz for wide compatibility with global LTE bands.

The kit includes all the parts needed for installation on the BlueBoat, and a BlueOS extension is available to easily configure and monitor modem settings directly from the BlueOS interface. The modem itself can also be used to add cellular connectivity to many other types of devices.

A Hologram global IoT SIM card is included for quick startup. Hologram is a cellular provider built specifically for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. They offer a global SIM card and platform that simplifies global coverage across hundreds of carriers. You can activate it instantly and get online anywhere Hologram supports, but we recommend switching to a local carrier SIM for the best data rates and coverage in your operating region.
