These Watertight Boxes are pressure-rated, corrosion-resistant, and flexible enough to use in many different applications. Subsea vehicles typically use cylindrical enclosures, but sometimes a box is a better form factor for your project! Rated to 300 meters depth.

SKU: WTB-VP
HS Code: 7612.90.5000

Product Description

Most subsea projects use cylindrical pressure vessels because of their efficient ability to handle high pressures, but sometimes it’s more convenient to use a box! The rectangular shapes means they are heavier for the same depth rating, but boxes…

  • are easier to mount PCBs and rectangular objects inside
  • don’t require additional trays for mounting
  • provide a direct heat sinking path for hot electronics

These boxes are available in two different sizes for different applications. Each of them consists of a box and lid made from anodized 6061-T6 aluminum. The lid seals to the box with a radial O-ring and is held in place using a plastic locking cord, like our cylindrical enclosures. That means there are no screws and the box can be opened and closed in just a few seconds!

Thinking outside (and inside (and around)) the box

The Watertight Box is designed to be useful in many different applications, so there are lots of options for how to use it!

Threaded holes on the bottom make it easy to mount to your system and internal threaded holes are available for mounting hardware inside. You can use standoffs or make a machined/3d-printed tray to hold the contents.

The boxes have pre-drilled M10 holes for WetLink Penetrators and other compatible hardware, like the Bar30 Pressure Sensor. We recommend using a Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) as well to make it easy to conduct vacuum leak tests and to automatically vent any excess pressure.

Not enough holes? There’s plenty of space on the sides of the box to drill additional holes.

Too many holes? Get a few blank penetrators to fill them in.

What’s in the box??

A depression on the lid can be used to apply a label to make it clear what is in the box.

The boxes come with rubber feet and the large box comes with handles for the lid to make it easier to carry and easier to remove.

These boxes were inspired by seeing diverse customer applications that could benefit from a rectangular enclosure rather than a cylindrical one. We’ve made our best guess on useful sizes, but we’d love to hear from you if you need a different size for your application!
