Our own Tyler Buckingham will give a virtual presentation on the role of ocean technologies in kelp farming, focusing on Blue Robotics’ work with the Ocean Rainforest kelp farm. The Grow Line initiative aims to develop technologies and materials to support regenerative aquaculture, particularly kelp farming. The presentation will begin with an overview of Blue Robotics, followed by a description of the Ocean Rainforest Santa Barbara kelp farm. It will include stories and insights from fieldwork, detailing what has been learned and how these experiences have shaped their approach. The discussion will cover the integration of ROVs, Autonomous Surface Vehicles, and sonar technologies in kelp farming, and demonstrate how user-friendly software can empower kelp farmers. Finally, the presentation will outline future plans for Grow Line and explain how individuals can get involved and share their ideas.
